The President of the EUcraina Association, Giovanni Kessler, personally went to Kyiv, to bring a first load of humanitarian help to the Ukrainian people. He is still there, at the time of writing these lines, and is accompanied by Paolo Ghezzi, representing the Italian branch of the association EUcraina (Europeans for Ukrainian people).
On this Sunday April 24 2022, Orthodox Easter day and symbol of peace, the members of the EUcraina association brought to Kyiv concrete and highly demanded tools, such as communication and recovery systems, protective and first aid equipment.
The members of EUcraina met their local contacts and had a warm exchange.
“This is what you see on the road leading from Lviv to the capital city of Kyiv. This is destruction and it’s just a “small” part“, tells us Paolo Ghezzi.

Paolo Ghezzi : « Giovanni Kessler, why be here with the Ukrainian people on this Orthodox Easter day? »
Giovanni Kessler : « Easter is the celebration of peace, even in present-day Ukraine and you have to be here. And also, it is here, just a few kilometers away from Kyiv, that the Russian invaders were stopped. The entire Ukrainian population fights for its existence, for its freedom; and they succeeded in stopping the invasion and repelling invaders. This area is “free”, but you can still see the traces of devastation, of death. And we are here to help these people to defend themselves. This is the meaning of our association and our journey to Kyiv. »
Giovanni Kessler joined an Orthodox religious celebration which is fortunately still possible and which allows citizens to come together. The population remains confident in the future of Ukraine.
Below are some pictures of the journey.
Giovanni Kessler and Paolo Ghezzi are staying for a few days in Ukraine in order to collect information on precise needs and prepare future actions of EUcraina.
Congratulations to them for this high-risk mission.
